When today we talk about folk traditions, it is no longer a question of what is authentic and what is not, but rather of how we go about creating a sense of local identity and how we explain and bring to the fore the special nature of the Hochkönig Region.
Heritage in the Hochkönig Region is embodied in colorful, living traditions. Changing with the passing seasons, we find here a rich variety of events, ranging from the raising of the May pole to the Krampus and Perchten revelry of winter, from forest, farm and fire-brigade celebrations, to the festive tones of the Advent Singing. Heritage nights, regular farmers’ markets, Harvest Festival events, Easter and Solstice Bonfires, ice-stock tournaments are just some of the community highlights in the Hochkönig Region .
